A host of dignataries turned out to plant trees in Julianstown Saturday. Cllr Nick Killian, Chairman of Meath County Council and County Manager Tom Dowling both brought trees and planted them in Julianstown. They were joined by local TDs Shane McEntee and Fergus O’Dowd. Thomas Byrne, who was attending two weddings on the day was represented by his brother James. Pat Boshell, a Julianstown native and local councillor brought two trees.

Community Garden
It was wonderful to see so many people take an interest in the new community garden. This year the Community Garden has been entered into the Pride of Place Competition under the heading ‘derelict site’ and derelict it was when we first started work on it. The aim of Pride of Place is to work in partnership with the community and school to encourage best practice, innovation and leadership in providing a vibrant sustainable community that improves the quality of life for all. Pride of Place is about people. It is about creating communities for tomorrow, while respecting the heritage and culture of our past. It would be lovely to see the residents of all roads leading into our village take charge of their own areas and manage to meet in the middle of Julianstown. We have a lovely village and it is up to all of us to make the most of it for ourselves and also for generations to come.
